Perfect Penis
Mr Hankey's best-known realistic dildo, hand-poured in platinum silicone with balls and a flat base. It comes in four sizes and four firmness levels. We tested the Medium in 75% soft, and Daniel wrote the part about the numbers.
We tested the Medium in 75% soft. It's big, but with a good warm-up it went in easily, and the curve hit my G-spot without us having to work at it, so I came hard. The things I'd complain about are practical. It took about two weeks to arrive, Mr Hankey's doesn't take returns unless a toy is defective, and the silicone picks up lint.
The Perfect Penis is one of the best realistic dildos we've tried. The Medium in 75% soft is big but easy to enjoy, and the slight curve puts the head right on the G-spot without any effort. It also smells of nothing and looks great. The downsides are practical ones. You have to wait for it, you can't return it unless it's defective, the silicone picks up lint, and it takes a bit longer to clean. If you want one good realistic dildo, this is the one we'd recommend, and if you're not used to this size, start with the Small.
Per-tester scores — anatomy matters, so we score separately on purpose.
- The curve hits the G-spot without any fiddling
- The girth stays even from the head down, so it never suddenly gets thicker
- 75% soft has a bit of give but holds its shape
- No smell out of the box
- Looks even better in real life than in the product photos
- Stands on its own and works well for riding
- Ships in a plain brown box
- Made to order, so expect to wait (ours took about two weeks)
- No returns unless it's defective
- The balls and the wide base make it a bit awkward to grip at first
- The matte silicone picks up lint
- Takes longer to clean than a smooth toy
- Heavier than you might expect
Unboxing & first impressions
It came in a plain brown box with nothing on it that says what's inside. The toy was wrapped in clear plastic, with a Hankey's Toys sticker on the front and a holographic "Handmade in USA" sticker with a serial number on the base. Mr Hankey's makes every toy to order in California, and ours took about two weeks to arrive. They sent it to us for free, and they haven't had any say in this review.
There was no smell at all when I unwrapped it, which is a good sign with silicone. Hankey's says on every product page that its toys are platinum-cured silicone. I don't buy toys from brands that won't say what they're made of, so that matters to me.
The color is the same Natural Tan as on the website, even though Hankey's says the colors are mixed by hand and can vary a bit. I think it looks even better in real life than in their photos. The veins are sharp, and the skin texture goes all the way down to the balls.
It's heavier than it looks. That didn't surprise us much, but if it's your first big silicone toy, you'll probably notice.
Size and firmness
We tested the Medium, which is 8 inches insertable and 7 inches around the middle. The girth stays about the same from just below the head down to the base, so it doesn't keep getting thicker as it goes in. It felt big the first time, in a really good way.
You can get it in four firmness levels. 75% soft and Med Firm are included in the price, and 40% soft and Extra Firm cost $15.95 more. We picked 75% soft, and I'm happy with that. It gives a little when the head goes in and then holds its shape. If you push hard it bends a bit, but not enough that it bothered me, and I wouldn't want it any firmer.
Hankey's has a line on its site about not letting your eyes get greedier than your hole, and it's worth listening to, since they don't take returns. If you're not used to toys this size, the Small is 6.5 inches long and 5 around and costs $125.95. I wouldn't mind having the Small as well, for when I want something a bit easier, but I'd keep the Medium.
The numbers
I've been reading odds and stats since I was a teenager, so I took a closer look at Hankey's size chart. The biggest jump in the range is from Small to Medium. The Medium is an inch and a half longer, but it's two inches thicker around the middle, 7 inches instead of 5. That's 40 percent more circumference and almost twice the cross-section. The steps after that are much smaller. The LG/XL is 14 percent thicker around than the Medium, and the XXL is 16 percent thicker than the LG/XL. That fits the customer reviews on Hankey's site where people say the Small was fine and the Medium was too much.
- 1 Small 6.5 in long, 5 in around
- 2 Medium (the one we tested) 8 in long, 7 in around, 40% thicker around than the Small
- 3 LG/XL 9.35 in long, 8 in around, 14% thicker than the Medium
- 4 XXL 10.5 in long, 9.25 in around, 16% thicker than the LG/XL
The average pick for a one-time partner in the 2015 study: 6.4 in long, 5.0 in around.
Hankey's says the sizes are based on studies of preferred penis size, run through AI. I can't check the AI part, but I looked up the best-known study on the topic. In Prause and colleagues' 2015 study, 75 women picked their preferred size among 33 3D-printed models. For a one-time partner the average pick was 6.4 inches long and 5.0 inches around, and for a long-term partner it was 6.3 and 4.8. The Small is 6.5 by 5, so it's very close to the one-time pick. The Medium and the bigger sizes are for people who want more than that.
The firmness levels are worth understanding too. "75% soft" is Hankey's name for a silicone mix, not a measurement, and they don't publish a Shore value. What changes from size to size is how much silicone there is. If you treat the shaft as a solid rod, it gets harder to bend with the fourth power of its thickness, but extra length makes it easier to bend again, by the third power. Put those together and a Medium pushed at the tip is about twice as stiff as a Small in the same mix. From the Medium up it only climbs a little.
So the same firmness feels a lot firmer in a Medium than in a Small, and not that much firmer in the bigger sizes. 75% soft worked well for us in the Medium. I'd only go for 40% soft if you already know you like your toys very soft.
It's also poured from one mix, with no firmer core inside. A soft outer layer over a firmer core is called dual density, and Sasha mentions who does that further down.
How it felt
It needed a warm-up first. Daniel took care of that with his mouth and his fingers, and after that it went in easily. We used water-based lube. How much you need really depends on you.
The curve is what makes it so good for me. When it's angled right, the head presses on my G-spot without us having to aim it, and I came so hard I squirted. We didn't get all eight inches in, and I didn't feel like I needed to.
A lot of Hankey's customers mention a "pop" when the head goes in. I didn't notice one. The skin texture holds onto a little lube, but in use it mostly feels smooth, so it's the shape that does the work.
Handling and riding
With the balls and the wide base, it took us a moment to find a good grip when using it by hand, but after that it was fine.
It stands on its own on a flat surface and it's great for riding. We also tried it on a suction cup. We haven't tried it in a harness yet. The Medium fits a 2.5-inch ring, and you can add a Vac-U-Hole for machines and Vac-U-Lock mounts for $4.95. Ours doesn't have one.
Cleaning and care
Hankey's recommends warm water and mild soap, and then a toy cleaner if you have one. That works fine. It just takes a bit longer than with a smooth toy, because the texture and the creases around the balls need a proper rinse.
The matte silicone picks up lint and dust pretty easily. It doesn't matter for use, but give it a rinse if it's been lying out, and store it in a bag or a drawer. There's more in our guide on how to clean sex toys.
I'd read a lot of the reviews on Hankey's site before it came, and most of them just say it's perfect. I rolled my eyes a little at that. Then I unwrapped it, and okay, they have a point.
It's big, but with a good warm-up it never felt like hard work, and the curve did most of the job. I came hard with it, which I can't say about every realistic dildo we've tried.
We went pretty hard with it, and I was a bit sore the next day, but that was because of how we used it, not because of the toy. I'd happily have the Small as well for when I want something smaller, but if I could only have one, I'd pick the Medium.
Is it worth the money?
I think so. The Medium costs $149.95 at Mr Hankey's, the Small $125.95, the LG/XL $169.95 and the XXL $189.95, before any extras. That's a lot of money for a dildo. I'd pay it. Just be ready to wait a couple of weeks, and remember that you can only return it if it's defective. If you order from outside the US, you also have to pay import duties.
In our realistic dildo ranking, the closest competitor is Vixen. Their VixSkin dildos are dual density, with a softer outer layer over a firmer core, and start at $96 for the smallest one. The Perfect Penis is the same silicone all the way through, at the firmness you choose. If you want to spend a lot less, Doc Johnson's Silex-D line is a cheaper silicone option.
- You want a realistic dildo that looks and feels like the real thing
- You want G-spot pressure without having to work at the angle
- You want something you can ride or use by hand
- You don't mind waiting a couple of weeks for it
- You need to be able to return it
- You want dual density with a firmer core, which is what Vixen does
- You want a toy that's quick to rinse off and put away
- You need it within a few days, since every toy is made to order
Five-plus sessions with the Medium in 75% soft, vaginal use only. Sasha tested it, and Daniel worked through Mr Hankey's size chart and the firmness math. Used by hand, ridden and on a suction cup. Not yet tried in a harness. Water-based lube throughout. We didn't measure it ourselves, so the measurements are Mr Hankey's own. The Perfect Penis was a gift from Mr Hankey's Toys, which had no input on this review.
We tested the Medium, which is 8 inches insertable and 7 inches around, and it was plenty for us. If you're not used to toys this size, start with the Small, which is 6.5 inches and 5 around for $125.95. Mr Hankey's only takes returns on defective toys, so size down if you're unsure.
It was for us. It gives a little at first and then holds its shape. A couple of customers who bought the 40% soft found it too bendy for riding or a machine. Med Firm and Extra Firm are for people who want it more rigid. The same firmness also feels firmer in the bigger sizes, because there's more silicone.
Mr Hankey's lists a 2.5-inch harness ring for the Small and Medium and a 3-inch ring for the LG/XL and XXL. We haven't tried ours in a harness yet. For machines and Vac-U-Lock mounts, add the Vac-U-Hole for $4.95 when you order.
Every toy is poured to order in California. Ours took about two weeks and came in a plain brown box. A few customers on Mr Hankey's site mention longer waits, so don't order it for a specific date.
Warm water and mild soap, which is what Mr Hankey's recommends, and a toy cleaner if you have one. Rinse the texture and the folds around the balls properly, and store it in a bag or a drawer, because the matte silicone picks up lint. Use water-based lube.
