Part 2 of 10
The Short Version
Start with a wedge. Liberator's Wedge is a 27-degree triangle of dense foam, 24 inches wide and 7 tall, and the density is the point. It holds its angle under two people, where a stack of pillows flattens and slides apart in minutes. Put it under the hips in missionary and the good angle stops being luck. It does the same under the hips for oral, so nobody's neck gives out first. Daniel bought ours in a Black Friday sale, and it hasn't left the bed since.
If $120 is a lot for a maybe, Sportsheets' inflatable Pivot ($42.99) is the cheap test. When a wedge has earned its place, Liberator's Wedge Ramp Combo ($310) adds the longer Ramp, and the Esse ($665) is the sex chair for a bedroom with room for one. For a swing without drilling into anything, Sportsheets' Pivot Deluxe Door Jam Sex Sling hangs over a closed door. Dame's Pillo is the one that looks like an ordinary cushion.

#1
Dense foam at 27 degrees, with a moisture-resistant liner under a cover that goes in the washer. It keeps its angle under two people and fits on a closet shelf.
#2
Vinyl under a velvety, non-slip coat, 24 inches long and 8 tall, with a handle on each side. Rated for 300 pounds, and it deflates for storage.
#3
The Wedge and the 34-inch Ramp. They nest into one long incline or work apart, for about $45 less than buying the two.

How We Evaluate Sex Furniture
Sex furniture fails in a few predictable ways. Soft foam sinks under two people and the angle goes with it. A cover with nothing under it lets fluids through to foam that can't go in the washer. An inflatable slides on the sheets or loses air, and a swing is only as safe as whatever it hangs from. So we look at how the foam holds after weeks of use, what sits between the cover and the foam, what weight the maker rates a piece for, and how much floor or closet it takes up.
Every maker on this list gets a furniture score from five parts: support and build (30%), furniture range (20%), covers and cleaning (15%), value (15%), and shipping, returns and service (20%). It scores furniture only, so a maker's number here can differ from its review score. Scoring details on our testing page.

Types of Sex Furniture
Wedges and Sex Pillows
A wedge is the piece to own first. Liberator's Wedge ($120) is 24 inches wide, 14 deep and 7 tall at 27 degrees. Under the hips in missionary it tilts the pelvis, so penetration angles toward the front wall, where the G-spot is. On your back with it under your hips, the giver doesn't have to crane their neck during oral. Face-down, it lifts the hips. The X-Wide is 30 inches across for $135. Sportsheets' foam Pivot ($110.99) is the nearest rival, in softer foam with loops on the sides for restraints. I used one for about three months before the Wedge, and for $9 more the Wedge is the one I'd buy. Dame's Pillo ($129) is smaller, 15 by 18 inches and 7 tall, in a cotton cover that looks like any other cushion.
Ramps and Combos
The Ramp ($235) is the Wedge scaled up, 34 inches long, 24 wide and 12 tall. It's long enough to drape your whole torso over with your hips at the peak, so in rear entry your weight rests on the Ramp instead of your arms. At the edge of a bed it brings hips close to the height of a partner standing on the floor. The Low Profile versions stand 10 inches tall instead of 12, and the X-Wide ones are 30 inches across. As the Wedge Ramp Combo ($310), the two pieces nest into one long incline. The setup I came back to most in six weeks with ours was the plainest one, the Wedge under my hips and the Ramp behind my back. If closet space decides it, the Flip Ramp ($275) folds in half.
Inflatable Positioners
An inflatable costs about a third of what foam does, and it deflates when you're done. Sportsheets' Pivot Inflatable Positioner ($42.99) is vinyl under a velvety, non-slip coat, 24 inches long, 16 deep and 8 tall, with a handle on each side for either of you to hold. Sportsheets rates it for 300 pounds. It's the cheap way to learn whether lifting the hips does anything for you before paying for foam.
Sex Chairs and Tantra Chairs
A sex chair, often sold as a tantra chair, is a chaise curved for positions a flat bed can't hold. Liberator's Esse ($665) is an S-curve 24 inches wide, with a removable headrest that doubles as a positioning pillow and a mini-scoop cushion in the box. The Esse Slim ($610) is 22 inches wide, easier to straddle, and comes without the mini-scoop. I tried the Esse at a friend's place. It was at its best for oral and supported reclining, and the elaborate seated positions in the marketing photos took more coordination than they gave back. It's also a piece of furniture about the size of a small loveseat, so it stays in the room. Liberator's Aria Flip Chaise ($595) folds down under a slipcover into a bench for the end of the bed, if a chaise would stand out.
Sex Swings and Door Slings
A swing takes your weight, so positions that are hard to hold get easy. The simplest kind hangs over a door. Sportsheets' Door Jam Sex Sling ($95.99) has a padded seat, footrests and hand straps, and it's rated for 350 pounds. Its Pivot Deluxe Door Jam Sex Sling ($139.99) has a bigger seat that sits upright or lies flat, rated for 325 pounds on a solid-core door. Both are easy to put up and take down, with nothing drilled. Ceiling swings and stand-alone frames hang in open space, and a ceiling swing has to be screwed into a joist. More on that under hanging a swing safely.
Straps and Toy Mounts
Some of the most useful pieces are barely furniture. Sportsheets' I Like It Doggie Style Strap ($28.99) is a padded belt with handles that goes around the hips of the person in front, so the one behind has something to hold and pull against. Daniel bought ours as a joke, and it stayed. Toy mounts hold a toy steady in a foam shape so you can ride it hands-free. Liberator's Wanda ($105) is made for a wand, and its BonBon ($111) has a pocket for a vibe or dildo. Sportsheets' Pivot 3 in 1 Play-pad ($46.99) adds a bullet, wand or dildo to its foam Pivot.

How to Choose Sex Furniture
Start with the problem. If missionary leaves the angle to luck, or oral ends with a sore neck, a wedge under the hips fixes both, and it's the piece most people keep using. If knees, wrists or a lower back give out first, the Ramp's longer surface carries more of your weight. If you want positions a bed can't give you at all, that's a chair or a swing, and both are bigger decisions.
Then measure. A high bed with the Ramp at its edge brings hips close to standing height for a partner on the floor, and the Low Profile shapes are two inches lower if that's too high. Check the weight rating on anything with air or straps. The inflatable Pivot is rated for 300 pounds and Sportsheets' door slings for 325 and 350. Liberator makes the Wedge and the Ramp 30 inches wide in X-Wide versions. Last, measure the closet. The Wedge fits on a shelf or under most beds, the Ramp needs a corner, and the Esse needs a spot in the room.
Part 7 of 10
Hanging a Sex Swing Safely
A door sling is the easy first swing, because the door does the anchoring. Close the door on the straps so they run over the top, and use the kind of door the maker names. Sportsheets says solid-core for its Deluxe sling. A hollow-core door is a thin skin over a light frame, and that's not what these are built to hang from. Lock it, too, if anyone else is home. Before anyone gets in, hang your own weight from the straps with your feet still on the floor and watch the top of the door.
A weight rating is for someone sitting still. Bouncing pulls harder than sitting, so stay well under the number. A ceiling swing has to go into a ceiling joist, found with a stud finder and fixed with hardware rated for the load, never into drywall on its own. If you rent, or don't know what's above the ceiling, buy a door sling or a swing with its own frame stand instead. Get in and out with your partner holding the swing steady, and keep the floor under it clear.
Part 8 of 10
Cleaning and Storage
Wash covers, not foam. Every Liberator shape has a cover that zips off and goes in the washer, with a moisture-resistant liner underneath to keep fluids off the foam. Dame's Pillo works the same way, a cotton cover over a water-resistant liner, washed on cool and hung to dry. The covers hold on to pet hair, so a lint roller earns its place near the bed. A waterproof throw over any of them saves laundry. Liberator sells its Fascinator throws, and Sportsheets the Pivot Protector ($133.99).
Storage is where furniture loses people. The Wedge passes for a throw pillow in a dark color and fits on a closet shelf. The Ramp stands on end in a closet corner, the Flip Ramp folds in half, and the inflatable Pivot deflates. The Esse doesn't go anywhere, which is why it's the last piece to buy, not the first.
Part 9 of 10
What to Avoid
- A stack of bed pillows as a wedge. They flatten and slide apart within minutes, which is the problem a wedge exists to solve. A foam yoga wedge works in a pinch with a waterproof pad under it, but its foam is softer and it has no liner.
- Foam with nothing between the cover and the foam. Fluids soak through the fabric, and foam can't go in the washer.
- Buying the Esse first. It's $665 and the size of a small loveseat. A $120 Wedge tells you whether angles do anything for you.
- A door sling on a hollow-core door, or on a door someone else might open.
- A ceiling swing screwed into drywall, or any swing you haven't loaded with your own weight before someone gets in.
- Ignoring weight ratings. The inflatable Pivot is rated for 300 pounds and Sportsheets' door slings for 325 and 350. Stay well under them.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best sex furniture?
Liberator's Wedge ($120), a 27-degree foam wedge that holds its angle under two people where pillows go flat. Under $50, Sportsheets' inflatable Pivot ($42.99). For a set, Liberator's Wedge Ramp Combo ($310). For a sex chair, Liberator's Esse ($665). For a swing with no drilling, Sportsheets' Pivot Deluxe Door Jam Sex Sling ($139.99). For something that looks like an ordinary cushion, Dame's Pillo ($129).
What is the best sex swing?
For most people, a door sling, because the door holds it and nothing gets drilled. Sportsheets' Pivot Deluxe Door Jam Sex Sling ($139.99) has a seat that sits upright or lies flat, and it's rated for 325 pounds on a solid-core door. The plainer Door Jam Sex Sling ($95.99) is rated for 350. A ceiling swing has to be screwed into a joist, so it's a project, and a poor idea in a rental.
What is the best sex chair?
Liberator's Esse ($665), an S-shaped chaise 24 inches wide with a removable headrest. It's at its best for oral and supported reclining. The Esse Slim ($610) is 22 inches wide and easier to straddle. Both are furniture about the size of a small loveseat, so start with a $120 Wedge and buy a chair once angles have proved themselves.
What is the best sex pillow?
Liberator's Wedge ($120). Its dense foam keeps a 27-degree angle under two people, and the cover zips off for the washer. On a budget, Sportsheets' inflatable Pivot ($42.99). If it has to look like an ordinary cushion, Dame's Pillo ($129) is 15 by 18 inches and 7 tall in a cotton cover.
What is a tantra chair?
Another name for a sex chair, a long curved chaise shaped so two people can hold positions a flat bed can't. Depending on how you sit or lie, the curves hold up a back, the hips or the legs. Liberator sells its Esse as the Esse Tantric Chair ($665).
What is a sex wedge used for?
Lifting the hips. Under the hips in missionary it tilts the pelvis so penetration angles toward the front wall, where the G-spot is, and it makes oral easier on the giver's neck. Face-down, it lifts the hips for rear entry. It also takes strain off knees and lower backs. Liberator's Wedge ($120) is 27 degrees and 7 inches tall.
Is the Liberator Wedge worth it?
If you have sex more than a couple of times a month, yes. The $120 pays for foam dense enough to keep its angle under two people and a liner that keeps fluids off it. Pillows go flat in minutes. SheVibe sold it for $108 on October 27, 2026. To test the idea for less, Sportsheets' inflatable Pivot is $42.99. More in our Liberator review.
Can you use regular pillows instead?
You can, and they work for a few minutes. Then they flatten and slide apart, and you stop to fix them. A foam yoga wedge with a waterproof pad under it is a better stopgap. Dense foam that keeps its angle is what you pay for in a sex wedge.
Are door sex swings safe?
On the right door, used the way the maker says. Sportsheets rates its Door Jam Sex Sling for 350 pounds and its Pivot Deluxe Door Jam Sex Sling for 325, and says the Deluxe is for solid-core doors. Close and lock the door, hang your own weight from it with your feet on the floor first, and stay well under the rating, since bouncing pulls harder than sitting still.
How do you clean sex furniture?
Wash the cover, never the foam. Liberator's covers zip off for the washer, over a moisture-resistant liner that keeps fluids off the foam. Dame's Pillo cover goes in on cool and hangs to dry. A waterproof throw on top saves most of the laundry.
Where do you store a sex wedge?
The Wedge fits on a closet shelf or under most beds, and in a dark color it passes for a throw pillow on the bed. The Ramp stands on end in a closet corner. Liberator's Flip Ramp ($275) folds in half, and Sportsheets' inflatable Pivot deflates.
