The ranking below sorts the doll makers by doll score, our rubric for dolls alone: build and realism, range, honest materials, value and service. No doll has been in our house, so every number comes from what the makers publish, and we only rank makers whose catalogs sell adult dolls only. Under it are the six I'd shortlist, silicone against TPE and what to know before one arrives.

Sex doll makers, ranked by doll score
#1
RealDoll
7.8
“RealDoll hand-finishes platinum-cured silicone dolls in Las Vegas, from $5,999.99 for the Classic, with half torsos at $1,499.”
Each one is made to order in 16 to 20 weeks, every sale is final, and there's no financing.
Zelex makes platinum silicone dolls from $3,239 to $4,299, says most arrive in two to three weeks, and gives a one-year warranty against defects. Most of its catalog, and everything in its US warehouse, is SLE, which Zelex never defines, so ask before you treat it as silicone.
SE Doll sold mostly TPE, which its own FAQ calls very porous, and has made silicone dolls since October 2023, from $2,149. It ships free from US and EU warehouses with an anti-fake seal, and its warranties run 7 to 30 days.
Doc Johnson makes torsos, not dolls, in its Silexpan silicone. The Apollo S ($302.99) and Apollo L ($610.99) are male torsos with a 7-inch dildo, and the female Helena ($789.99) was sold out on October 29, 2026.
No doll has been in our house, and I'd rather say so up front. I spent six weeks on RealDoll for its review, and for this page we read every maker's own site on October 29, 2026: materials, weights, warranties, delivery and what happens if you change your mind. Usually nothing happens, because almost every sale in this category is final.
RealDoll comes out on top. It makes the best-made doll there is, hand-finished in Platinum-cure siliconeSilicone set with a platinum catalyst instead of tin. It cures cleaner, with nothing left over, and it's the claim to look for on a silicone toy. More in the glossary silicone in Las Vegas from $5,999.99, though its terms are the strictest here. Zelex's platinum silicone dolls cost a little over half that, from $3,239, and come with a one-year warranty. SE Doll's silicone is cheaper still, from $2,149, but its warranties run 7 to 30 days. If you want the experience without a person-sized object to store, a torso does the job, from RealDoll's $1,499 half torso to SE Doll's silicone torsos from $1,149. For a male body, Doc Johnson's Apollo S is $302.99.
Platinum silicone over a steel skeleton with a one-year warranty, at a little over half RealDoll's price. Most list at $3,599 to $3,899, and about half were 10% off on October 29. Pick from the silicone collection, not the SLE one.
Silicone since 2023 from a maker that mostly sold TPE. It costs $2,149 to $2,449 from the US warehouse and $2,499 and up made to order, ships free and has an anti-fake seal on every head box. The warranties run 7 to 30 days.
Silicone torsos from $1,149 in SE Doll's US warehouse to $1,699 made to order. At 17 to 26 kilograms they carry more of a body than the RealDoll half torso, for less.
A male torso in Doc Johnson's Silexpan silicone with a 7-inch dildo, and the cheapest silicone torso here. The Apollo L is $610.99, and the female Helena ($789.99) was sold out on October 29.

How We Evaluate Sex Dolls
A doll fails in a few expensive ways. The material is Porous and nonporousPorous materials like TPE, jelly and Cyberskin have tiny pores that can hold bacteria. Nonporous ones like silicone, glass and steel can be cleaned completely. More in the glossary and can't be kept clean. The skeleton gives out at a joint. The maker won't take it back, or a seller ships a copy. So we look at what each doll is made of and whether the maker says so plainly, the skeleton, the warranty and the return terms, delivery, and what the maker does about fakes.
Every maker on this list gets a doll score from five parts: build and realism (30%), doll and torso range (20%), materials and honest listings (15%), value (15%), and shipping, returns and service (20%). No doll has been tested in our house, so the scores rest on what the makers publish, read on October 29, 2026. We also rank only makers whose own catalogs sell adult dolls only. Several well-known brands aren't here because their stores sell dolls framed or sized as children, and we won't send anyone to them. Scoring details on our testing page.

The Makers, and What Each One Is For
RealDoll: the best made, the strictest terms
Prices $1,499–$21,999
RealDoll makes its dolls by hand in Las Vegas, in platinum-cured silicone over a stainless steel skeleton, and sells them only on realdoll.com. The Classic is $5,999.99 with four face sculpts, the ready-to-ship dolls are $6,999 female and $6,499 male, and the robot dolls are $21,999. Half torsos, female or male, are $1,499.
Every doll is made to order in 16 to 20 weeks and ships by freight in an unmarked crate, curbside, with an adult signature, and RealDoll may ask for ID. All sales are final, cancelling costs 25% in the first week and 50% in the second, and there's no financing. Our code TOYSLUT10 takes 10% off everything but the robot dolls.
Zelex: silicone for a little over half the price
Prices $880–$4,299
Zelex has made dolls since 2017, with its head office in Suzhou and its factory in Zhongshan, China. Its silicone dolls list at $3,599 to $3,899, and about half of them were 10% off on October 29, 2026, from $3,239. The K-Series dolls are $4,299. Most of its catalog is SLE, $1,620 to $2,799, and so is everything in its US warehouse. Zelex never defines SLE on its product pages, so ask before you treat it as silicone. The only silicone dolls under $3,000 are a few sold from EU stock "with small imperfections", $1,499 to $1,849.
Its dolls weigh 33.5 to 44.6 kilograms (about 74 to 98 pounds), and Zelex says most arrive two to three weeks after the order. Every doll carries a one-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects, with a replacement doll for a serious one.
Refunds are tight. You can cancel within eight hours of paying for a full refund, less a 10% processing fee unless you paid with PayPal, or within 24 hours for 80%. After that you can't cancel, and a doll can only go back new, unused and unopened. Zelex publishes a list of its authorized sellers, which matters in a market full of copies.
SE Doll: cheaper silicone, short warranties
Prices $1,149–$5,798
SE Doll has made dolls since 2016 and sold mostly TPE, which its own FAQ calls very porous. Its silicone line, since October 2023, runs $2,149 to $2,449 for the dolls in its US warehouse and $2,499 to $5,798 made to order, against $1,162 to $1,799 for its TPE dolls, and its silicone torsos are $1,149 to $1,699. It ships free by air in about two to three weeks from US and EU warehouses, in a box labeled "mannequin", with a sealed head box and an anti-fake code.
The warranties are short, 7 days on quality, 15 on the skeleton and 30 on functions, and a claim needs an unboxing video. Custom dolls are final, and warehouse stock can go back within three days if it's unused.
Doc Johnson: silicone torsos for less
Prices $303–$790
Doc Johnson makes torsos, not dolls, in its Silexpan silicone. The Apollo S ($302.99) and Apollo L ($610.99) are male torsos that each come with a 7-inch liquid silicone dildo. The female Helena ($789.99) was sold out on October 29, 2026. They're the cheapest silicone way into this category.

The Picks, Side by Side
Sex doll and torso picks: type, material, weight, warranty and returns, price
Read on each maker's own site on October 29, 2026, before tax and shipping. RealDoll publishes no doll weight. Zelex lists 33.5 to 44.6 kg and SE Doll 33.5 to 37 kg for a body and 17.3 to 26 kg for a torso, converted here. About half of Zelex's silicone dolls were 10% off that day. Discounted dolls with small defects aren't counted, Zelex's from $1,499 in EU stock and one SE Doll at $1,539. RealDoll's code TOYSLUT10 takes 10% off everything but the robot dolls.
Part 6 of 9
Silicone or TPE
Silicone is the only material I'd spend this kind of money on. Platinum-cured silicone is nonporous, takes heat and lasts. TPE (thermoplastic elastomer)A soft, cheap material used for most stroker sleeves. It's porous, so it can't be fully sanitized, and a sleeve lasts about a year of regular use. More in the glossary costs less, $1,162 to $1,799 for SE Doll's TPE dolls and $1,199.99 for Pipedream's Ultimate Fantasy Dolls, but it's porous, and SE Doll's own FAQ says badly cleaned TPE cavities can grow mold. You wash it, dry it and powder it every time, and it still wears out faster. Zelex's SLE is the open question. Most of its catalog uses it, and Zelex doesn't say what it is.
If you buy TPE anyway, follow the maker's care pages. SE Doll says to keep it out of the sun, test clothing dyes first and fix small tears with TPE glue. More on why porous materials matter in our body-safe materials guide.
Part 7 of 9
Delivery, Storage and Care
A doll arrives like furniture. RealDoll ships by freight in an unmarked crate about six feet long that weighs roughly 200 pounds loaded, delivered to the curb and signed for. Zelex and SE Doll ship a box about 150 by 37 by 30 centimeters that weighs 46 to 48 kilograms, labeled "mannequin" at SE Doll. Work out who carries it inside before you order.
Full-size dolls weigh roughly 70 to 100 pounds, so storage is a plan, not an afterthought. RealDoll says to hang its dolls from the neck bolt, or to turn one regularly if it's stored lying down, because flat spots become permanent. Dark clothes stain silicone, and RealDoll's guide puts the risk at ten days or more. Use water-based lube only, never silicone or oil, and wash the inserts after every use with warm water and toy cleaner.
Part 8 of 9
What to Skip
Any maker that sells dolls framed or sized as children. Several well-known brands do, and we don't link to them or name them as options.
Unbranded dolls on marketplaces. That's where childlike dolls and copies turn up, and Shein banned sex dolls entirely in late 2025 after childlike ones were found from third-party sellers.
Sites with "real doll" in the domain name. They have nothing to do with RealDoll, which sells only on realdoll.com.
TPE if you can afford silicone. It's porous and wears out faster.
Ordering before you've read the return terms. Almost every sale in this category is final.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best sex doll?
A RealDoll, hand-finished in platinum-cured silicone in Las Vegas from $5,999.99. For less, a Zelex silicone doll from $3,239 with a one-year warranty, or SE Doll's silicone from $2,149. For a torso, RealDoll's half torso ($1,499) or SE Doll's silicone torsos (from $1,149). No doll has been tested in our house, so these picks rest on the makers' own specs and terms.
Is a RealDoll worth it?
If you have the budget, the space and the strength to move a person-weight doll, it's the best-made one there is. For everyone else a Zelex silicone doll gets most of the way for a little over half the price. RealDoll's terms are the strictest here: made to order in 16 to 20 weeks, every sale final and no financing.
How much does a sex doll cost?
A silicone doll starts at $2,149 from SE Doll, $3,239 from Zelex and $5,999.99 from RealDoll, and a silicone torso costs $302.99 (Doc Johnson's male Apollo S) to $1,699. TPE dolls are about $1,100 to $1,800, and we'd skip them.
Silicone or TPE sex doll?
Silicone. Platinum-cured silicone is nonporous and lasts. TPE is porous, needs washing, drying and powder after every use, and wears out faster, and SE Doll's own FAQ warns that badly cleaned TPE cavities can grow mold.
How heavy is a sex doll?
Full-size dolls weigh roughly 70 to 100 pounds. Zelex lists 33.5 to 44.6 kilograms (about 74 to 98 pounds), SE Doll's bodies run 33.5 to 37 kilograms, and RealDoll doesn't publish a weight. A torso is far lighter: RealDoll's half torso is 32 pounds.
Are sex dolls legal in the US?
Adult dolls are legal in most of the US. Alabama bans selling sex devices, though owning one isn't a crime. Childlike dolls are a crime in a growing number of states, among them Florida, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Louisiana and South Dakota, and we don't link to any maker that sells them.
Are sex dolls shipped discreetly?
Mostly. RealDoll ships by freight in an unmarked crate that someone has to sign for, SE Doll labels its box "mannequin", and the boxes are large either way: a crate about six feet long, or a box about 150 by 37 by 30 centimeters weighing 46 to 48 kilograms.
Can you return a sex doll?
Rarely. RealDoll's sales are final, and cancelling costs 25% in the first week and 50% in the second. Zelex refunds in full within eight hours of paying, less a 10% fee unless you paid with PayPal, and 80% within 24 hours, and takes back only unopened dolls. SE Doll's custom dolls are final, and its warehouse stock can go back within three days if unused.
How do you clean a sex doll?
Wash removable inserts after every use with warm water and toy cleaner and let them dry. Wash the body with mild soap every couple of weeks and powder silicone so it doesn't turn tacky. TPE needs washing, drying and powder every time. Use water-based lube only.
How do you avoid a fake sex doll?
Buy from the maker or a seller on its authorized list. Zelex publishes one, SE Doll seals each head box and prints an anti-fake code, and RealDoll sells only on realdoll.com, so a site with "real doll" in its name isn't RealDoll.
