LELO vs Magic Wand

THE VERDICT

The LELO Smart Wand 2 does not outperform the Magic Wand. It is prettier, it is cordless, it is waterproof, and it costs a lot more for a motor that loses the only contest a wand is bought for. Buy the Magic Wand Rechargeable. Where LELO earns a look is materials and finish. Platinum-cured silicone, IPX7 waterproofing, a body that doesn't look like physiotherapy equipment. If you want a wand you can take in the bath and display without embarrassment, and you accept that it vibrates less, the Smart Wand 2 is a defensible luxury. As a performance purchase, it isn't.

PROS & CONS

LELO
PROS
Sona 2 Cruise is one of the best sonic-wave clitoral stimulators available
Design and aesthetics are legitimately exceptional. These are beautiful objects
Build quality is real: platinum-cured silicone, solid motors, proper waterproofing (IPX7)
Lily 3 is a legitimately innovative aromatherapy-infused vibe that works better than it sounds
CONS
Priced at 2-4x what the products are actually worth compared to competitors
Packaging budget clearly cannibalizes product budget; the box is half the experience
Smart Wand 2 doesn't outperform a $70 Hitachi Magic Wand
Enigma is good but not $189 good when the Satisfyer Love Triangle exists at $60
MAGIC WAND
PROS
Nothing on the market matches the deep, rumbly vibration at this price point
The Rechargeable model works plugged in, giving you cordless convenience with unlimited runtime
58 years of production means the design has been refined past the point of surprises
Broad head covers more surface area than pinpoint toys, which some people strongly prefer
CONS
The Original's head is vinyl, not silicone. Porous, not body-safe, cannot be fully sanitized
Loud enough that roommates will know what you're doing. 50+ dB is not subtle
1-year warranty is embarrassing when Satisfyer offers 15 years on a $30 toy
Newer models have a 20-minute auto-shutoff that interrupts longer sessions

WHO SHOULD BUY WHICH

  • You prefer broad stimulation over pinpoint precision

QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK

Is the LELO Smart Wand stronger than the Magic Wand?

No. In our LELO review the Smart Wand 2 didn't outperform a standard Magic Wand, and it costs considerably more. The Magic Wand's deep rumble is the reason it has survived for 58 years.

Is LELO's build quality better than Magic Wand's?

On materials, yes. Platinum-cured silicone and IPX7 waterproofing run across the LELO line. The Magic Wand Original's vinyl head is porous; the Rechargeable's silicone head closes most of that gap.

Which is better value?

The Magic Wand Rechargeable, by a wide margin. It works plugged in or cordless and costs well under the Smart Wand 2. LELO's one clitoral product that justifies its price is the Sona 2 Cruise, not the wand.
